BioFiltro is an environmental technology company specializing in nature-based wastewater treatment for a.o. wineries. As the European subsidiary of BioFiltro Group (California-based), it brings over 20 years of global expertise in vermifiltration, a low-energy biological process that leverages worms and microbial communities to naturally purify wastewater.

The BioFiltro process treats wastewater with very low energy demand and minimal maintenance, while producing high-quality water suitable for a.o. irrigation or safe discharge, supporting freshwater savings and resilience.

A key co-product of the vermifiltration process is worm castings, a nutrient-rich soil amendment that improves soil structure, water retention, microbial activity and long-term vineyard health. By turning waste streams into regenerative resources, BioFiltro enables wineries to close the loop on water, energy and organic matter.
